A year that changed everything — and why we rebuilt our website

The past year has been an eventful one for AR Design — although it actually began in December 2024, when Andrew had a stroke.

The following three months were spent in hospital, while Tracy somehow managed to keep the business running, the family going, and make daily trips back and forth to the ward. Eventually, we made the decision for Andrew to leave hospital and continue his rehabilitation from home.

It wasn’t an easy decision. At the time, Andrew couldn’t walk and needed help with even the most basic day-to-day tasks. But with the support of an incredible number of people, it turned out to be exactly the right call.

We’re hugely grateful to the hospital staff who looked after him, the ambulance crew who worked late to get him home on his birthday, the people who adapted the house at very short notice, and our long-standing collaborators who stepped in to take on work when we needed them most. And above all, to our family — thank you. We genuinely couldn’t have done this without you.

Nearly a year on, Andrew is back at work. He’s working fewer hours than before (which, in hindsight, is probably a good thing), but the business is as strong as it’s ever been. We’ve made some changes, learned a lot, and come through it with a clearer sense of how we want to work going forward.

This period of reflection and reset is a big part of why we decided it was time for a new website. It felt like the right moment to pause, take stock, and rebuild something that properly reflects where AR Design is now — and where it’s heading next.
